About me and how I work
I am a qualified and accredited counsellor/psychotherapist with several years’ experience of working with clients from different walks of life. My work integrates approaches from different therapeutic schools and enables me to match my style to each client’s particular needs. Before training in counselling and psychotherapy I worked in various fields: as a writer and editor, and running my own small business. I am a mother and initially came to counselling through my work with parents on a telephone helpline.
As well as working privately, I have experience working in charities and within the NHS. I work with individuals, couples and families. I am particularly interested in relationships - whether those we have with family, friends and colleagues in our adult lives, or those we had as children growing up.
I am a member of UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and accredited by the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and work at all times according to the BACP/UKCP ethical guidelines.
I work in comfortable surroundings in Dartmouth Park, NW5.

My approach includes aspects of psychodynamic, humanistic and systemic therapies, working both with conscious cognitive processes and with processes that remain unconscious.
I follow what is essentially an integrative relational model and use systemic ideas and elements of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), solution focussed therapy and other interventions depending on each client and their particular situation. I encourage clients to discuss and review our way of working as we go along.
I see people for a few sessions to deal with immediate issues or for a longer period to explore deep-seated problems.
